Ayurvedic Abhyanga Massage

Abhyanga massage not only works on a physical level on the fascia, tissue but also affects the internal organs through massage of glands by working on chakras and use of bio energetic forces like pranic healing.

Abhyanga is a signature Ayurvedic Massage which not only strengthens the immune system, activates the weak chakras, tones down the hyperactive chakras, helps the lymphatic system, soft tissues and joints, and also helps blood circulation. It also works externally as a rejuvenating skin treatment.

Shiroabhyangam - is a head massage with energy healing and freshly prepared herbal Ayurvedic oil, followed by washingof hair with Ayurvedic Herbal Decoction - Beneficial for Hairfall and greying of hair, when administered 3 to 7 days)

Padabhyangam - Ayurvedic Foot Massage beneficial for emotional trauma, releasing negative energy and relaxing sore muscles. Aids Movement of Prana in the body. A rejuvenating experience that aids the circulation of blood and lymph in the 'nadis' of the body.

Sarvangabhyangam - Ayurvedic Body Massage that balances the chi energy or Prana in the body. Beneficial for constipation, muscular and joint stiffness, sore muscles, dry skin etc. Leads to better circulation, benefits those with skin disorders, anti ageing, rejuvenating for those recovering from illnesses)

Abhyangam is perfect as a pre natal and post natal therapy, for seniors and for children - when done traditionally.

If combined with other modalities, it can work on a deeper level, helping soft tissue, joints and muscles as well.

At Ayurveda Yoga, our signature massage is Ayurvedic Marma, where Ayurvedic Abhyanga is integrated with Marma.

Ayurvedic Abhyanga Marma Integrated Massage - Ayurveda's version of acupressure, a therapeutic massage that releases muscle soreness. It is the Ayurvedic version of Accupressure and uses 107 vital marma points, that are gently massaged in a circular stroke then pressed to release pain.

The marma massage can be done with clothes on, like Shiatsu or with 'healing' oils that have anti inflammatory or analgesic qualities like MahaNarayanam Tailam, or, Pidantak Tailam. Sometimes, pain relieving wraps or ice packs can also be used.

Kalaripayattam Masters use their hands, feet, fingers, thumbs as well as natural herbs that heal and reduce inflammation and pain.

Lepam: Traditional Therapies include Abhyanga Massage, followed by Lepam or a bodywrap and svedanam or steam procedure.

Abhyangam can be combined with Lepam or a bodywrap as a package.
